Autumn is my favourite clothes season, I definitely think I am an A/W girl when it comes to fashion. It’s the opportunity to layer and to play with textures and tones that does it for me. I also believe it's the perfect time to give your wardrobe a refresh for the cooler months ahead. The key for me is not about buying more, it’s about choosing the right pieces that work hard for you, season after season. The aim to to pick pieces that are additions to a cohesive wardrobe of clothes, full of pieces you love that will make getting dressed every day easier, giving you outfits that look stylish without the stress.
Here are five autumn essentials I recommend for autumn 2025 to elevate your wardrobe and simplify your style.
1. A Luxurious Cashmere Knit
Every season I add a new cashmere knit and right now I’m loving the brushed cashmere styles for that soft cosy look. A cashmere knit is an investment that pays off every time you wear it. It feels beautifully soft on the skin, keeps you warm on chilly days, and instantly makes your outfit look elevated. I tend to start my search for cashmere in Cos, M&S and John Lewis as the quality of the cashmere is very good. A cashmere comb is a must to keep your cashmere looking its best. I have this version
2. A Leather or Suede Jacket
This is probably the item I am craving most, particularly styles that will become classics and work for many years. A real suede or leather jacket isn't the cheapest item to invest in so it's important to select a style that fits your personal style. I think leather always adds a little edge, and this autumn it’s all about brown shades. A cocooning shape or cropped style will work as well over a floaty dress as it does with a simple knit and jeans or a skirt. It’s one of those pieces that makes even the most casual outfit look pulled together and just that bit cooler. Reiss and Massimo Dutti have a very good range of suede and leather jackets that will last for many years.

3. A Shirt or Blouse with a Twist
I know shirts aren't for everyone and the buttons can be a nightmare with a larger bust but I do love a shirt. A shirt or blouse doesn’t have to be basic, I typically buy shirts that have a touch of difference. I look for details such as an unexpected frill, oversized cuffs, or statement buttons that work to make it feel special while still wearable. Style them with wide-leg trousers and loafers for work, or french tuck into your straight leg jeans for a more casual feel. A versatile shirt like this becomes one of those “go-to” items you’ll wear again and again and will always stand out from the crowd.

4. A Midi Skirt
A midi skirt is one of the most versatile pieces you can own for autumn and the easiest for most women of any age to wear. They work beautifully with knits, blazers, and even a simple white tee layered under a coat. Pair it with boots for a polished look, or trainers for a more relaxed weekend look. Choose a cut that skims the waist and hips (bias-cut or A-line are particularly flattering) and look for fabrics like satin, wool-blend, or leather to bring in a seasonal texture. Stick to classic colours or add a seasonal pop of colour.
5. Chunky Jewellery for a Modern Edge
All my clients will know how much I talk about the importance of accessorising your outfits and my number one recommendation is always jewellery. The addition of a necklace can transform an outfit, and chunky jewellery is the simplest way to update your look and add some wow. Think of jewellery as the finishing touch that turns simple into stylish and in my opinion should always be included in every outfit.
